Through its purchase of current books and multimedia materials, and unique local collections, the library encourages a love of reading for recreation and lifelong learning. - excerpt from the Mission Statement

In order to fulfill the library's mission, the collection provides access to information in print, audio, video, and electronic formats. These resources include:

  • Fiction and Nonfiction books including Bestsellers
  • Large Print
  • Reference
  • Magazines and Newspapers
  • Audiobooks on CD and tape
  • CDs
  • DVDs and Videos

All magazines can be checked out except for the current issue. The Library keeps issues for about 1 year. In addition, please take a look at the Vermont Online Library for full access to many, many more magazines!

In addition there are two special collections:

  • Voices: The Search for Justice and Identity Collection. This collection focuses upon, but is not limited to, first-person narratives of people who have sought equal rights, religious freedom, political freedom, and cultural identity. Authors from the United States and around the world are represented.
  • Bella Luna: Breast Cancer Collection. This collection honors women and their families whose lives have been challenged by breast cancer. It includes books and educational materials about breast care, breast cancer, treatment and coping.

The library currently has five public access computers for patrons to use to search the Internet and to do other personal computing. The following software is available on some or all of the computers:

  • Microsoft Products: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator
  • Encarta products: Encarta Researcher, Encyclopedia, Dictionary, World Atlas, and Africana 2001.
  • National Geographic Interactive - includes the entire issues of the magazine from January 1888-December 1996
  • UXL Biographies - access to biographies of over 2,500 individuals
  • DISCovering Nations, States & Cultures - find factual and statistical information on over 200 nations, 53 U.S. states and territories and 12 Canadian provinces
  • Snowflake Bentley - a multimedia encyclopedia with over 100 snowflake, frost & dew images
Adult Book Discussion Group    Return to Top

The Deborah Rawson Memorial and Jericho Town Libraries co-host Vermont Council on the Humanities Book Discussion programs at least once a year. The last series featured South Africa.

The Reader's Choice book discussion group meets the second Tuesday of every month in the program room of the library. Registration is required to be a part of the group. Please call the library, 899-4962, for more information.

Vermont Online Library
